Cybersecurity is the other half of my degree track: I'm finishing an Associate's in Networking & Cybersecurity (3.9 GPA) at Tacoma Community College in June 2026, then continuing directly into a BAS in Advanced Networking & Data Security that fall. I'm a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the TCC IT Club, both of which keep me connected to current security topics and peer projects outside the classroom.
My coursework and hands-on practice cover identity and access management, multi-factor authentication, and SIEM fundamentals for monitoring and alerting, alongside practical tool work in Nmap and Wireshark for network reconnaissance and traffic analysis, and day-to-day patch management and access control discipline from my IT Support Tech role at TCC.
Why This Fits
Before IT, I spent 9+ years in security leadership — supervising multi-site operations, running incident response, and serving as Western Washington Recruiter for Phoenix Protective Corp — on top of an Army enlistment that built discipline around procedure, risk, and accountability under pressure. That background translates directly: physical security and cybersecurity both come down to controlling access, watching for anomalies, and responding fast when something's wrong.
I apply that mindset in my home lab too, where centralized logging and segmented VLANs give me a real environment to practice detection and containment, not just theory.
